Peatlands Park, the first of its type in the British Isles, is located close to the southern shores of Lough Neagh. Site for Peatlands Park was acquired in the year 1978 from Irish Peat Development Company and was opened in the year 1990.
Ideal for quiet recreation, Peatlands Park is home to different species of flora and fauna. It boasts of many insects such as moths, butterflies, dragonflies, and damselflies along with varied species of woodland and wetland birds and different kinds of nests. The park also includes badgers and hares while open bog areas of the park are dwelling areas of newts and lizards for various species. Sauntering around the Bog Garden, one can enjoy observing the rich and interesting flora and fauna.
