Drunk Driving in Northern Ireland – Do NOT Do It!

The Northern Ireland authorities are serious about driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. And rightly so, for it costs dearly every year in accidents and lives lost.

The legal alcohol limit for driving in Northern Ireland is

80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

or

107 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of urine

or

35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Anything more than that is considered drunk driving and is considered an offence.

How much drink will induce these numbers may depend on your age, sex, metabolism and stress levels. To be safe DON’T DRINK AT ALL when you know you will be driving. To be even safer, don’t drink at all!

Drunk Driving in Northern Ireland is penalized heavily and officers are vigilant about drink driving because people tend to binge drink during the weekends.

We are a family of teetotalers and enjoy life without coming under the influence of alcohol irrespective of whether we are driving or not. And we recommend this lifestyle choice to all!

Penalties of Drunk Driving in Northern Ireland!

By the way, Drunk Driving is called Drink driving in Northern Ireland. But don’t joke with the officers if they they ask you to give a sample. You are risking serious penalties for not complying with the law.

How would you like to pay up to £5,000 in fines?

Or go to jail for up to 6 months?

Or ban you from driving for a whole year’s time?

Or even ask you to retake your driving test before they return your driving license to you? Huh?

Pretty serious. Don’t get caught drink driving in Northern Ireland!

Translink Train Services There are four train services and all begin in Belfast.

• The Belfast-Londonderry begins at Belfast Great Victoria Street and ends in Londonderry. It goes through Antrim, Ballymena, Coleraine and other smaller towns.

Translink Ulsterbus: This bus service connects all major towns and villages across all of Northern Ireland.

Translink Goldline: Express bus that connects the major towns. There are Goldline Express routes and Goldline Express high frequency.

Translink Metro. Metro is the previously called Citybus service and serves the Belfast city area.
